Has 4g speed slowed down for you?

When I first got the S3, Verizon 4g speed was blazing fast. I was so impressed. But it's been about 3 weeks with the phone and I've noticed that it's gotten very slow compared to what I experienced at the beginning. And I'm not a heavy user for them to throttle me. Our am I? I should hit about 3 gig at the end of the billing cycle. Anybody else have the same experience?

For the last 6 months to a year I only get 6-8 mb down here. We were one of the first lte markets. Sucks that tmobile people get faster speeds. If I wasn't on a family plan I'd drop Vzw so fast it'd be a electromagnetic phenomenon.

verizon does not throttle 4g phones.

Try to remove sim and battery, let sit for 5 minutes.

I've had the phone since pre-release. Got this reading just last Sunday. If this is slow, I'm afraid to see fast...

This happened to my previous phone.. I used to have the HTC Thunderbolt and at first, the 4G icon came out and my speed was really fast but after a few months, the icon went away and it got considerably slower... but I don't know if there was a problem with the phone or Verizon..

I used to get speeds like this back when 4g just rolled out in my area and now because of all the traffic on the towers I'm lucky to see over 15

Well yeah. The more traffic clogging any one tower will cause a general slowdown. The point was to illistrate that the *phone* hasn't slowed down in the couple of weeks it has been out, as the OP was questioning.

just an imho opinion. btw this was all with a samsung droid charge

Location Location Location, I've had 4g since last July in altoona pa, which is central pa and not anywhere major, and has a low population, i had 20 to 34 Mbits easy anytime of day, about 1 year later its 5-12 Mbits maxing at at maybe 20 "like if its 2 am", now here's what i saw, I just went to San Jose California AKA Silicon Valley and took a stroll to mountain view for lunch, not one speed test was under 50 Mbit, i feel as if it was my phones lte that hit its limits not the technology or the people on the network. it was midday and i was in a restaurant at lunchtime.

p.s. still in altoona and got a galaxy s3 yesterday, avg speed is 8-12 Mbit, as advertised

I jut talked to VZW tech support and was told normal 4G speeds are between 2Mbps to 5Mbps.

Verizon advertises 5-12 down, 2-5 up for lte.

Yeah I would agree 2-5mbps is better than 3g but no way on he// is that acceptable 4g you should at leat get 8mbps and up

It really depends on where you are. In weak 4g areas i have seen well under 1mbps,in strong areas, i have seen over 60mbps.

I have noticed that time of day does make a big difference in the speed. Also it does seem like the longer the phone is on the slower it goes. I have done a test and got like 1 megabit and then rebooted and instantly got closer to 10.
