S3 won't accept charge

This morning my son tried to charge his S3 but it won't accept the charge. We tried a few different cords but none will work. I'm not familiar with Samsung so I wonder if this is a common problem and if anyone know of a solution?

Do you mean that the battery icon never changes to the charging icon? The battery might have failed. Try a new battery.

The icon never changes but the battery isn't dead, it was at 42%. I ordered a battery and a wall charger. I wonder if the port is bad?

But is it charging up? If you leave it plugged into a wall outlet and come back to it an hour later, has the charge gone up?

The USB port does crack loose and charges slowly or not at all on charging.If You get the charging indicator and it won't charge or slowly charges,the usb port needs to be re-soldered.
