"Hardware ID missing" error message -- can't tether

Just got the HTC One and tried to connect PDANet+. But when I plug in I get an error message ("Hardware ID missing: Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the USB composite device"). I tried it with a different HTC One and got the same error message.
