Rezound will not switch from 1xevdo to lte on active connection

Well, my Rezound will sometimes switch to 1xevdo especially after loss of signal, but I noticed that it will not switch back to lte on an active connection. For example, tune-in radio always runs data. I can leave it for hours on tune-in radio, and it will not switch to lte, but as soon as i turn off tune-in radio, it switches to lte right away. I am assuming that this is the way it's supposed to be?

Probably. That sounds like a built in mechanism to prevent data interruptions. Can you tell if the status bar is simply reporting 1X and you're actually on 3/4G or are you truly still on 1X?

1xevdo is considered 3G technology. It will show 3G when connected to 1xevdo.

You might be confusing 1xevdo with 1xrtt?
