AH, I just cracked my screen!! My question for you guys is, what should I do? Is there a way to call Verizon or HTC for a replacement screen(if thats possible) and work on it myself? Not many threads, if not, none about cracked screens on the Rezound.. I have Asurion(Single tier $6.99/mo) insurance, should I be able to get a brand new phone? If so, how do I go about doing this? Call verizon or asurion? Any help would greatly be appreciated ....

    thanks in advance

UPDATE: I just found phoneclaim.com(asurion, i believe).. looks like i can file a claim, pay the deductible of $99 and get a new phone? has anyone had any experience with this site/insurance?

Thought she might drop by to share her experience, guess she's forgotten about us already +1 for D^ Skatergirl dropped her Rez in a commode. She filed the Asurion claim, new phone & off she went. If I recall, Asurion did not deliver it on the scheduled date, though. She waited several days and had to call a csr and tell them to get their rumps in gear on the delivery. She wasn't to happy with them in light of that. All in all, you'll get a new phone for the deductible.

That's true but that's a real crap shoot, though. I've seen 2 guys buy borked devices, sold as fully functioning. Both were stuck in (botched flashing) bootloop but got fixed with some much needed assistance but not without a slight case of buyers remorse for picking it up on the cheap. Personally, I'd gladly pay the $100 for a brand new device over used.

I thought that they would send a "like-new" phone.

Typically, asurion sends out refurbished, and IF you have an issue with that, they'll send you a brand new one, if they have any. I had a hero, dropped it in a river, filed claim, posted deductible, got refutbished hero, had overheating problems while charging, called asurion, they sent me out a brand new lg optimus.

I have not heard of anyone on the rezound getting a refurbished model under asurion. Everyone i heard of has gotten a retail box replacement with all accessories.

To the op, if you are mechanically inclined, you can buy the touch screen for around $ 35 from ebay or whatever and replace it yourself. Personally through, I would just pay the deductible.

You know, now that someone mentions Asurion and the Rezound, remember how sometimes if you filed an insurance claim on an older phone that was no longer in production/on sale, they would send you the newer model? For instance, filing a claim on the Droid would sometimes get you a Droid 2.
Well, if Verizon kills unlimited data, and you file a claim well after the Rezound reaches end-of-life status, I wonder if they would give you the equivalent of a One X or whatever HTC phone makes its way to Verizon in the future. This would be a very handy loophole.

It all depends on what they have in stock. If you called for service on your Rezound today and they don't have any they'd have to give you an "equivalent" model. But that could be the original RAZR or a OG Dinc. They have no idea what an equivalent smartphone is. Dumb phones were easy to equate.

If your phone is under warranty, and after several iterations of warranty exchanges, then Verizon may change your phone to a comparable phone. When I called to get my TBolt warrantied again, they offered me the Charge, Revolution, or Rezound as "comparable" phones. The Razr or Bionic were not considered as "comparable" to the TBolt. Per the CSR that I spoke to of course, who you talk to may have different definitions of comparable.

Another option would be to buy the upgrade on another line that doesn't currently have unlimited data, then push the upgrade to your line.

I think you may have just fudged the odds now that it's been committed to script. I'm sure quite a few will be in line to try this. That would be friggin hysterical if it panned out.

yeah, that's the problem with comparable, they may consider another phone comparable, but you may not. also, it depends on what they have in stock too. In the end, you may be stuck a while without a phone until they come back in stock with a comparable phone, should you not agree with them on what's comparable.

My friend had a Thunderbolt, got a "like new" from Asurion. It bricked after a week. They then sent a brand new one and a few accessories as well as an apology. They have always arrived on the designated delivery date.

Skatergirl got a brand new phone w/ all the original acc. Only thing they wanted from her was the phone. She got to keep her orig. acc. and got new acc. w/ her new one. Here's her threads, fwiw, the original followed by her Asurion woes.

I recently dropped my rezound and had to file a claim through assurion. They were very helpful amd the phone arrived early the next day. Everything worked out great, but I did get a refurbished phone. Been nearly a month and the phone is still going strong.

dropped my brand new rezound 3 day after i got it last november. cracked screen. asurion sent out a refurb with all the accessories including the beats headphones. it came in one day. all they wanted back was the phone so i got a spare batter, sd card and beats phones out of it. sold both my beats phones on amazon for 70 each. so that paid the deductible and a bit.
