Dang man, you beat me too it!!! I just posted up about this in the ROM's and hacks section. Great news though!

lol. Actually, you had the right idea on where to post this. No one here seems to care much.

Yes, it is good news. I just hope Global capabilities will be baked into our new desserts. :)

There MAY be an issue with the global stuff... this source is for the 3.14.605.12 kernel, which I believe uses different radios than the 4.3.605.2 firmware and they are not compatible, although this source may be close enough to get over any issues, time will tell... I would expect by this weekend we should start seeing new versions of ROMs pop up!

I read one comment at XDA that indicated it's safe to expect another kernel release down the road - one that includes global. I'm not a dev; so, I have to pin my hopes on their beliefs & expectations.

It will be interesting to see user reviews on the ROMs in development! Can't wait. :)

The bigger picture is this: even with this ICS release, the development of AOSP and AOKP will speed up and some of the "kanged" kernels out there will smooth out the rough edges. No more patchwork crap, global or not

Can't wait to see how much more battery life we ll be able to squeeze out of this puppy now that this is out. 5 hour screen on time should be very possible IMHO. Already able to push close to 4 hours of screentime running the global kernel.
