Home button problem

My HTC Rezound once in a long while will act like I am repeatedly pressing the home button even though I am not. Usually clears up in a short time, but tonight it started before midnight and is still doing it. Multiple resets, battery pulls ETC... have not fixed it.

Any idea what the problem is or if I can just disable the home button?

Really driving me crazy as my phone is basically unusable like this.

It seems to be some hardware problem and i guess it needs some cleaning up !!

How would I do that?

Seems to me like maybe whatever senses that I have put my finger over the home button is messed up or perhaps whatever accepts its input.
