Running uber BAMF preview and after the voice update my camera stopped working just flashed the camera.zip and that fixed it.

No need to rename it just flash in recovery like a rom. You mitt want to make a backup first if you don't have a recent one. I also wiped the cache before flashing but I don't think its required.

THat would be rooted only, correct? I am on the 2.11 GB leak, but I am not rooted, I guess I will need to root in order to flash the camera fix?

Same here. I'm not rooted. Although I'm not opposed to rooting. Is there a way to flash this without rooting. If so could you explain thoroughly?

I also noticed this issue yesterday with gingeritis roms. Bamf roms work fine. My Gtalk and my Camera force close. I thought it was something with my phone but it looks like a lot of others are also experiencing it.

here is a fix without having to do all that other stuff

someone else found this on rootwiki

FIX:Camera & Google Talk

This fixed both my Camera and Google Talk that stopped working in Sense ROMS om 08-31-11.

FIX:
1. Go to Settings and select Date & Time.
2. Un check Automatic
3. Change the time to 08-01-11
4. Go and open your camera (it should work now)
5. Now you can go back and check Automatic in the Time & Date Setting

I read that even if you change the date/time you have to constantly do this when device is rebooted. I didn't verify this I used the camera.zip and wiped data.

Maybe someone can confirm.

I followed these steps, but the camera didn't launch after I changed the date (instructions say "time" but reference a date. no biggy, as it was copied, just pointing it out). I went back into settings, set the date back to automatic, and then the camera (and gtalk) launched.

but...

I read that even if you change the date/time you have to constantly do this when device is rebooted. I didn't verify this I used the camera.zip and wiped data.

Confirmed. I rebooted and the first message I received, after entering my password, was that talk was force closed.

I just flashed the camera.zip and rebooted. No FC so far, and camera works fine (both cameras, to be exact).

For non-rooted, it looks like you'll just need to tweak the date if you reboot.
