I don't think so. Perhaps another camera app. I haven't tried that.

About the compression; I felt the same way at first. The TBolt uses a lot of compression on an 8mp image. Seems like a waste. But, then I started thinking about it (I'm a long time amateur photographer and did photography professionally for about 10 years) and I came to realize that even without the (excessive?) compression, the TBolt probably could not produce better images with the tiny lens. In most (all?) of these camera phones, regardless of the quality of the sensor or the size of the sensor or the mp of the sensor, you're still gonna have the "bottleneck" of the quality/size of the lens.

I now think that the amount of compression that HTC chose for this camera was probably about right, to take the best advantage of the hardware it had to work with.

Just my opinion.
