This is something I need to do. I keep having to move files using USB sticks and this would make it "magical" to move files in between computers. ;)

Figured I'd join the party and 2nd OP comments regarding dropbox. Great service, and very easy to use.

For anyone looking to setup an account, I've taken the liberty of aggregating the various referral links (and added my own), so take your pick and help yourself, and a fellow forum member out at same time!

Here is macvjk's (OP) original link: http://db.tt/hMi8DPm

And here are some others that have already been posted on this thread:

Ive been using dropbox for a month or two but large files take forever to download. Don't know if it's just me? otherwise it's a great app.

I downloaded a video today over 3G and it was kind of slow. But I assume if I used WiFi or LTE it would have been much quicker.

I'm just glad it works! Now I can share videos that I can't email or upload to YouTube from my tbolt.

thanks usually my small files go really quick but the other day these medium-large files were just taking forever.....

Be careful when uploading large files too. I uploaded a video and it was taking forever and so I plugged in my phone. Then my battery overheated!

Count me in as another satisfied Dropbox user. It defines the term "invaluable" for me.

I just might give Sugarsync a go, because of the file requirement... though, I don't think you have to download files to the phone unless you need them with Dropbox.

In any case, Dropbox has changed the way I do business. I also like that more developers are working to be compatible with it (QuickOffice Pro and Titanium Backup Pro are two apps I purchased in part because of Dropbox functionality). The new code protection is a great add too.

I've installed this using one of the links from this thread, so one person is getting an extra 250 MB. Here is my own link for anyone who wants to use it to get me (and the themselves) and extra 25 MB. Thanks!

I love Dropbox. But I'm still trying to figure out the best ways to use it with my Thunderbolt. In particular, I want to upload all photos taken (using Dropin, but not sure that's the best solution), upload my battery log as well as GPS logs, etc. Those have to be done manually. Hmm, might be possible to use Tasker for that? I also use a number of apps that sync with Dropbox, note apps in particular.

I can't imagine there is anyone left who has read this thread and not already used someone else's referal, but I'll give it a shot!

For those of you who want to self refer on a second computer and and second email, make sure you download from a different IP address. Otherwise, dropbox will invalidate your referral. One way to do this is use the mobile hotspot to connect to internet on your laptop.

Anyway, here's link to my referral - Thanks.

Have to throw in a good word for dropbox and Kuff's password safe. I was out jogging with my son while he rode his "big boy bike." I had nothing with me but my phone. Of course, my son crashed hard and was bleeding all over the place. I was able to walk into the walgreens and buy bandaids by reading them my credit card number which I had securely encrypted and loaded on my phone thanks to password safe and dropbox. Saved my bacon.

About to head out of town for the week and going to try out Dropbox. Looked at the about section on dropbox site but do I need my home PC to be on to have access to the files I share in the dropbox folder? Have no intentions of leaving my gaming rig on when I leave town for more then 1 day during the summer weather. So hoping I do not need it on to utilize what looks to be an amazing must have app.

P.S Anyone have referral code that gives more then 250mb if that is even possible? If not just a normal referal link would be fine :)

SugarSync = MUCH better then Dropbox IMHO (unless Dropbox has changed something in the last 6 months). And you start out with 5GB of free storage. What is Dropbox free now?
Sugarsync now also automatically syncs data, including photos. I take a photo on my TB, and without doing a thing, a few minutes later, it is on my desktop PC. All automatically.

Dropbox + KeePassDroid = win

I use that combination on any machine I have, I honestly don't have any idea what any of my passwords are anymore, the're all gibberish, KeePass makes me more secure and lazy :)

This is a great combo. I switched to Android in December. I exported my password data from my WinMo device. I wrote a small conversion program to XML. Imported that into my KeePass on my Android. I'm good. Some of my gibberish passwords are getting close to 10 years (maybe more) old.

Dropbox is an epic app, and it works hand in hand with "pocket" which is another password keeper. "Pocket" automatically encrypts and backs up all private info into your dropbox in case your phone gets unexpectedly 86'd. Just get a new phone add dropbox and "pocket" and it should all just reinstall your private info onto your phone.

Haven't had to use that functionality yet, but these are essential and seamless apps that I dont know how I lived with before finding them. bye-bye usb drives, and good riddance!!! What a time and hassle saver!!:D
