    Menu>Settings>Accounts & Sync>Gmail

    Make sure the sync box is checked. If so and still not getting push, reboot.

    ok, the bolt is my first android, so I am still new to this. I am a little confused about gmail app vs the mail app that comes with the phone. I seem to be having same problem as first post. I am getting mail notifications through the mail app/thing (not gmail app) ie no push. So I guess the question is, am I supposed to get mail through the regular mail app or through the gmail app (which I would prefer). Thanks

    The Gmail app is used for the account you used to set up the phone. Everything else goes through the Mail app.

    me too...funny thing though, me emails either come early in the morning or late in the afternoon..2 or 3 at a time???

    Go to settings>applications>manage applications>click on all tab up top> scroll down to gmail>then press the clear data button. Go back into gmail and it will start resyncing. Dealt with this issue yesterday.

    You should only see gmail in the gmail app (unless you also added it to the mail app for some reason).

    If the above recommendation doesn't work try removing and re-adding your google account.
