Does anyone know of an android application that would add the Bluetooth Message Access Profile for SMS push to bluetooth devices. In particular my Ford sync system will read SMS messages to me. Any help would be great.

Anyone......Beuler?

I'm looking for the answer to this as well. I have a MT4G running CM7 and a 2011 Ford Edge Limited. Everything seems to work well, with the exception of the SMS over bluetooth.

We need to find a Dev to put the Bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile) into Cyanogen Mod or another mainstream ROM.

Since the DroidX has (purportedly) this functionality built in, it shouldn't been impossible to have the code pulled into a ROM tree. Unfortunately, although I feel its possible, it is outside of my technical ability.

+2...also looking for and answer for my new 2011 F-150 and a new Photon I just picked up yeaterday. The salesman was able to get the texting feature to work on the demo phone in the store...so I bought one, brought it home and now i cant get it to notify or read received texts...help anyone?

I think we are good with the new Bionic released this week on Verizon.

Would like to see if this would ever work on stock / non-rooted TB. My 2012 Edge with MFT pairs nicely with my TB and does everything I need, but the text to speech stuff. Come on HTC...

Anyone know of any AT&T phones that have a Bluetooth MAP profile? I contacted Toyota today and they told me the only phones that read out text messages through their Entune system are certain Blackberry devices.

Motorola Atrix 4G will read your message on the Ford Sync and I think the new Atrix 2 will read and send preset text messages. Like "Be there in 10 minutes" or "Okay"

Funny listening to her read messages back to you, like "lol" she'll say "Laughing out Loud", but others it just sounds foreign.

I have HTC Evo 4G with CM7.2 RC1.
standard 7.2 did not support the BT MAP
successfully recieved SMS over bluetooth.
see attached

I also have an EVO 4G and installed CM7.2 RC 1 on it. I was running 7.1 stable prior but thought I would try and see if this would get my 2009 Ford Flex with Sync to work with text messaging. It didn't help. Under message notification on my Sync system it still says unsupported for my phone. My son's Motorolla Photon works fine but not my EVO. At least with CM I can download my phonebook. That didn't work prior to rooting the phone. I sure wish someone would figure out how to get these phones to work. I don't understand why more phones don't come with the MAP profile for their bluetooth. You would think with all the Ford's on the road with Sync the phone manufacturers would figure this out. Is maybe the latest nightly the one that I should have tried instead of RC 1? Let me know. Thanks.

Hello everyone,

LONG time blackberry user that just moved over to the Android platform over the weekend. I purchased the Galaxy S3 and boy...is this a new world for this 'ol blackberry boy. I've been a member of crackberry for many years and look forward to learning alot from you guys for this newbie.

I'm disappointed that this amazing phone doesn't include the bluetooth map profile enabling you to read emails on my car's nav system. Is there an update to this thread? It's funny, I'm able to read texts fine, but not emails. When I get into the car, there's an alert saying "reading map profile"...so I hope there's a work around for this? I spend a tremendous amount of time in my car during my work day.

Thanks again and please forgive the noob ignorance.

I know this thread has not been replied to in roughly a year. I have found a nice mod that has MAP for Evo 4G. It will not transfer previous sms but it will notify and store sms after it has been paired and it is connected to the H/U. I have only had this on my phone for about an hour now and it seems to run smooth. There is no email support over BT in this rom. But due to the lack of any ROMs supporting message access I will take what I can get.

I see the attachment on computer but not on phone. I have the Motorola razr maxx. File downloaded to computer but unable to open.

Hi !

I have attached BT ( MAP ) SMS support apk file , hope this helps...

Chrislee :)

Tried on Stock Nexus S running 4.1.2 and Stock Nexus 4 running 4.3.
Both had the same error and the App crashed when a text was received.

Shame this could of been what we were after.
