I had the Chrage, just wasn't happy. No need to get into a huge debate, there are plenty of threads what I see. But I just wanted to ask a couple questions.

1. I heard that the newest update is effing up a lot of the new phones. But I just got it today and wanted to make sure mine wasn't loaded with that update.

Basband Version
1.16.00.0223r

Kernal Version
2.6.32.21-gb05544a

Build number
1.12.605.6 CL338893 release-keys

Software number
1.12.605.6

And how easy is it to root this thing and put a solid GB build on it with a Mac, or should I just stay stock and download different themes?

Thanks, seems like a great community in this forum!

That looks like the first release number... and the root procedure is easy and well laid out by Cory... I did the ADB process and it was very easy.

I rooted with cory's guide and it was simple. The directions are very thorough. I had to read about adb and learn a little about using the terminal beforehand, but i had no experience with those previously.

If you decide to try a GB rom, make sure you read about the leaked gb radio bricking possibility [NOTICE] Gingerbread Related Bricking - May 27th 2011 update - xda-developers .

Personally i am only using froyo roms for now bc of this issue.
