You said you have a Samsung Smart TV, so you just use the screen mirroring in settings on your Note 3 and the Screen Mirroring setting on your Smart TV. It works great on my mine. Likewise, Chromecast does mirroring from the Note 3 and slightly better than samsung's in my experience. In the chromecast app on the phone, you choose cast screen and choose the chromecast connected to your TV. Works great.
All it. mirrors are MY pics and MY vids. Samsung mirror cast or allshare do not allow true screen mirroring. For that plug in an hdmi cable now everything on phone screen goes to tv. Everytbing. no list of apps. ALL appz. THAT is screen mirroring. Samsung won't allow me to mirror anything useful to me nor does chromecast. Wireless hdmi cinnection should work like wired connection. Plug it in and everything u see on phone you see on tv. THAT I would buy.

Both Samsung smart TVs and Chromecast absolutely do true screen mirroring with the Note 3. You are doing something wrong.

Then why even list what apps it uses? With screen mirroring ALL apps are supported. Your version of screen mirroring only mirrors certain screens like pictures and certain (but not all) apps

Stop telling me what I am talking about because you are wrong. I've been trying to help you get what you want but you insist on not having it. You can keep arguing all you want but you are just hurting yourself because I use screen mirroring several times a week and it is true screen mirroring. If you prefer to be unhappy not having something you could be using right now that is up to you.

To answer your first question, there are two reasons. 1. Screen mirroring only works on some devices (but the Note 3 is among the ones that it works on). 2. Because even using a phone that does support screen mirroring, many people prefer to cast from apps instead of mirroring because it does not keep them from using their phone for other things while they are casting and it does not use the resources of their phone to cast, unlike mirroring.

Now I will stop responding to you since you just want to fight and don't want help.

I'm really not fighting with you. I am repeating what vzw customer service, samsung customer service, and several threads in several forums have told me.

I would be delighted to apologize to you if you could tell me what the steps are for screen mirroring as we have discussed it using my note 3 and samsung smart tv. I have updated the samsung software and the only things I can get to mirror are my own pictures and videos which I still need on the phone while mirroring to tv so no way to do some other activity while using all share.

I am using Samsung Link. Is that the wrong software?
What a pleasant surprise and wonderful xmas present it would be to discover the correct technique. If this comes off as snarky believe me I do not mean it too. I will even apologize in advance now. Please tell me how to do it step by step. You wouldn't believe how many hours I have wasted TRYING to get what you have achieved to work in my system.

Thanks for your help and patience!

I don;'t know where the Samsung CS people are located, but most Verizon CS people are located in a different universe.

When you have the TV set to the Chromecast input (my Vizio switches to it automatically if it receives a signal - unfortunately, it doesn't switch back when I turn Chromecasting off), and you run the Chromecast app and tell it to cast to the Chromecast you want, it mirrors the screen. Any and all apps now appear on the TV screen, including the homescreen.

There ARE certain apps (like Chrome, Firefox and Youtube) that can Chromecast without mirroring the screen, but they don't do it as well, or as easily, as the Chromecast app.

This is from what I've been doing for over a month. I have no idea what Verizon or Samsung are talking about. (Verizon usually has no idea what they're talking about either, which is why I've tried them 3 times and dropped them within the free period.)

The reason there are apps that Chromecast on their own is that not many phones can use the Chromecast app to mirror yet (see Chromecast mirroring for a list).

Step by step is - set your TV input to Chromecast. Run the Chromecast app. Press the 3 bars at the upper left. Press Cast screen. Choose the Chromecast you want to cast to. (It comes up even if there's only 1.) Watch the TV screen.

No, I meant using Samsung Link to samsung smart tv without chromecast.

I made a point of buying to top of the line sammy tv and phone because salesmen said I could "mirror" screen without any additional attachments. They lied.

The info about chromecast is good though because it is pretty cheap. Do you find you can chromecast mirror a streaming movie or tv show in hdmi or is the processor or connection too slow for that?

I have had the same problem with my 12.2 note pro. After several factory reset's, i have found that if i don't let GMAIL, update. IE, return it to it's factory settings, and keep it there. All OK. It mirrors perfectly with my Samsung TV. Works for my tablet.

What works? Can you mirror a stream tv show from Netflix or whatever (not youtube) to samsung tv without chromecast or any other additional devices? If so....how? Step by step please. I don't want to see my pictures or my vids. I want to watch movies or tv shows streaming from internet. Once they are on my phone and I am watching on my note 3 how do I see same on my Samsung tv?

Not sure I'm doing this right....
    But this was posted.

"To everyone having issues using the screen mirroring. Try downloading the patch from the play store. It will allow for screen mirroring to work again. After the last update the screen mirroring was broken. The patch fixed this issue when I had it with the all share cast device."

I read thru all the posts and could not find a reply.

Please, what is the name of the app?
    Thank you for your reply.

I am running Lollipop on my GS5 (Verizon) and have loaded the patch app which won't patch because it says the patch isn't needed. If I run YouTube or any other app I can cast to my smart TV our to one of our three Chromecasts. However, when I try to select screen mirroring I get the message that there are no devices. This is making no sense. I even cleared the phone cache and rebooted. Any suggestions?

I found the solution, at least for my S5. From the latest update of the Chromecast app (now called the GoogleCast app), I selected the tab in the upper left menu and selected screen cast from there. It works perfectly from here. I hope this helps everyone.

For those finding this thread now: in order to use the built in Mira Cast technology (no internet use or wifi hot spot use of your phone) native to Android phones to wirelessly stream whatever is happening on your phone directly to your tv, you need a Mira Cast dongle/connected. Looks a lot like a fat flash drive, and utilizes both the HDMI port and USB port on you TV to receive the signal from your phone. No software of any kind need be downloaded to make it work.
You can get a wired set up to do the job, however your phone battery will drain despite being plugged in and charging while watching movies. You might also discover that it doesn't work because of the number of pins in the mini HDMI connector end that goes into your phone isn't the same as what the phone has. Or that you must take your otter box off the phone because the connector housing is simply too fat.
I bought a refurbished Belkin Mira Cast adapter dongle for my Vizio flat screen in my RV. I frequently end up in places where internet is not an option outside of my cell phone. Our DVD collection is 2000 and growing, but there are still videos I do not want to own (power rangers, 25 years worth for starters) As we watch an average of 400gb of media per month, hot spot is not an option. (Yes, 400. It is always playing something.) I needed a non-wifi option, and Chromecast requires Wifi to work, while Mira Cast is simply bluetoothing the audio and video to the receiver.
We consistently use this with a Note2 phone, but also works great with the Note8. The TV is 8 years old. You can understand that the devices is compatible with old and newer devices. The latest Smart Tv's wouldn't need the dongle, but my Vizio is a Dino lol!
