Gallery draining my battery!

Every few days lately, I notice that my battery is draining faster than usual with little to no use, and when I check battery usage it says that my gallery is using a huge majority of my battery (30% or more!) without having taken pictures, or looked at them for days. Turning the phone off and back on seems to work, but I shouldn't have to do that, right?..... A) any idea why it's doing this? B) how do I make it stop?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have an SD Card inserted? It might be a corrupt file that's making the Gallery go haywire or that the SD card is just about to fail (and in my experience with the Note 2, S4, and Note 3, Samsung has a knack for frying SD cards, especially SanDisks)

I do have an SD card, and I think it might be SanDisk......
I'll try a new one (when I have some money! :) ), and see if that helps.
Thanks for your help!

Also check to see if "Media Scanning" is also present in your battery report. If it is, then yeah, it means the SD card is doing something weird. In all cases I've seen it's because the card unmounts and remounts itself randomly.
