Overrated lag machine
- So you are saying i'm blind? really, is that how you try to win an arguement. Maybe just maybe your phone is defective or maybe you are running things I am not. Let me repeat myself I have yet to have any LAG. If you guys hate the phone so much quit your whining and return it for something else. simple fix otherwise just man up and wait for an update.
Actually to root the phone is super simple and takes less then 5 mins. Instructions are in the hacking section here.
Not trying to argue at all, sorry your getting all pissy like a women. lol06-12-2013 12:44 PMLike 0 - Seems like the recurring theme here is "I removed this and froze this, and cut these features off, and now I don't have AS MUCH lag or no lag". Therein lies the problem. This phone should have never been released with the lag that a large percentage of them are experiencing. And the crap about "man up and wait for an update" is ridiculous.Wildo6882 likes this.06-12-2013 01:03 PMLike 1

You mentioned you came from an iPhone to the s4. Keep in mind so did I. The only reason iOS doesn't have many glitches and are fairly smooth is simply bc every release of the OS only has a few new features while most are enhancement/improvement to current feature. iOS has also been around for a long time in tech years. Touchwiz in general is a fairly young software in comparison to iOS. Given enough time I'm sure this lag issue will be of the past.

With future updates things will get better. This is a new version of touchwiz...buggy yes...the hardware in this phone (hand gestures, eye scrolling) are new to this phone and Samsung). I'm only slightly disappointed...but not enough to say this phone is crap..again...give it time...a few updates and you'll see this phone improve.

sent from my favorite phone of the year HTC one, don't mean it has to be yours06-12-2013 02:37 PMLike 0 - I'm coming from an iPhone 4S, actually two of them because the first one had to be replaced. I had numerous issues with lag and freezing on the 4S, especially when I'd receive multiple texts. Facebook and Instagram were also laggy at times and every once in awhile just went back to the home screen. I've only had the S4 for a couple of days but haven't experience any lag whatsoever. This includes loading pictures (over 2k) and music (about 1k) on my 32gb microSD card. I'd try to return it, maybe you got a defective phone? Happens all the time with iPhones, as I've had both my brothers and several friends return their iPhone 5 and exchange it for a new one.06-12-2013 03:05 PMLike 0

These devices do a LOT more than the devices you might have had 4 years ago. Again, I agree they still shouldn't lag, but if you are having the problem then there's things you can do to make a change for the better.

It could very well be a certain build. i had the s4 all 3 carriers (don't ask...lol) the AT&T and Sprint versions (had jitters but wasn't "throw against the wall" intolerable, and both those units were made in Korea. Then i switched to T-Mo and the S4 i got from them was made in China, which i had read isn't manufactured to same standards...that unit was unbearable.
And as for the S3, if you got an early version, the software build was superb... But, midway through its life, Samsung started sending new builds pre-loaded with jelly bean (due to Ice Cream Sandwich having many security (permissions were R/W (Read/Write) instead of R/O (Read Only) and also had an issue referred to as sudden death whereas certain motherboards would sometimes go into a deep sleep and not be able to come out of it ever) the s3 became a "different phone"....It lagged, it was jittery, it hesitated, dialer took forever to load, intermitten force closes, and if you google it, you will see TONS of ppl saying, "jelly bean ruined my S3...i finally gave up on S4 and have had the LG OG Pro and am finally having the Android experience i've been long in pursuit of : )
I would've hung in there and hoped Samsung sent an upgrade to fix the issues, since they have really upped their game in regards to updates, with proof being their latest addressing storage to SD update, but i have a strong suspicion they don't know WHY its happening, and who knows when they will figure it out...
BTC06-12-2013 07:46 PMLike 0 - I'm on my second S4(swapped the first one for the ONE but went back to the S4)and both of them have been superb. I know there is a real lag issue but I guess I've been fortunate in having two that are truly an upgrade from my S3 which was great as well.

And yes, the iPhone just works. They always have, and always will. Lag is pretty much nonexistent on the iPhone 5, and even with a lesser speed dual-core processor, it is faster and smoother than most Android phones on the market. Battery life is equal or better with a smaller battery. Camera is consistently at the top. I guess that is an advantage of building their own hardware and software. Build quality is second to none, and resale value is phenomenal. Customer satisfaction leads the industry by a wide margin. I am sure that Android is capable of more things than the iPhone, and I am a fan of both platforms (I have had Androids since the OG Droid), but it is really disheartening to put down my hard earned money on the "best Android ever", and it turns out to be a laggy mess that has to have many of it's features turned off just to function as it should right out of the box.I have had a DNA and an S3, both with no lag, and the DNA is probably the smoothest Android that I have owned. I am hoping that the Moto X phone knocks it out of the ballpark with all feature and performance boxes checked, as it seems that every Android phone released has shortcomings ( lag, battery life, low internal storage, screen, etc.). It would be nice to see one Android phone that would be the phone that people are looking for, with no shortcomings. And with the specs that these phones have now, t don't see why that couldn't become reality.06-13-2013 12:49 AMLike 0 - BS...My brother switched from outdated iphone platform to s4 because he saw how much better my old gs3 was over his tiny featureless iphone. And he cant believe the difference he can actually customize his phone. But after jb and Verizon totally blew the last updates and ruined many good s3's I upgraded to s4 and love it. No lag on either of our phones or any others we asked. So quit with your false lag rumors. I tried all that was available now and overall GS4 rules for now. All you have to do is download the wrong app to mess up your phone so you must be very careful.
U think because a few people out of millions have lag issues the phone is junk, ha, go ahead use something else but for now S4 reins supreme.
My GS4 has better 4gLte signal then my gs3 had especially after jb update. I didn't think the screen could look much better then s3 but new 1080p hd screen is gorgeous and very bright. Larger battery is perfect size for a day of heavy use.06-13-2013 07:24 AMLike 0 - Fanboy, much?
False rumors? Obviously, you don't read the forums at all. And it is more than a "few" people, and probably is in the thousands or 100's of thousands. I'm sure that there are more people with lag that don't post on forums than people that do post their lag problem, as probably 90% of smartphone owners never visit a forum. And I never said that the S4 is junk. I said that it should not have been released with the lag problems that were on it. Actually, I think that it is a great phone, other than that issue.
"Featureless iPhone".
Could you elaborate on this? For probably 80-90% of smartphone users, the biggest things that they use their phone for is calls, texting, emailing, and web browsing. The iPhone absolutely excels in all of these areas, and does it in a very smooth, simplistic manner. Maybe that is why it is gaining U.S. marketshare, and Android is losing some.06-13-2013 07:54 AMLike 0 - I think you do have a valid point. This isn't new technology and it's supposed to be an improvement over the S3. I had the DNA and it never lagged. This one did and the OP was justified in his opinion that it should not have. Android isn't a new platform and the basic design isn't particularly new. And the lag should have been corrected before release. But it wasn't. I was disappointed with the lag but felt it worth the trouble to address myself. The phone isn't cheap. It should work without glitches and lag. I'm not real sure Samsung and Verizon are going to address this. The phone seems to be selling just fine, so why should they? If the lag is unacceptable and you don't want to play with it - and I don't blame you - try a different one. Grab the DNA, or a Windows phone. I'm pretty happy with the Nokia 928 - it's elegant and smooth.
Sent from my Galaxy S406-13-2013 10:37 AMLike 0 - I also had an DNA. It's an truly amazing and beautiful phone. The only problem was being plagued with the SIM issue. That's part of the reason why I abandoned it. I got the SIM issue within 3 days of getting the phone. I really love sense 4.0 also. Most people complain about sense but I find it rather elegant and beautiful. After I took it to Verizon they switched out the SIM, but that fixed the phone for a week before it acted up again. And I simply said no to the phone and switched out for the S4. I need a phone that is reliable. Plus I will not switch my phone out for a replacement from Asurion. 8 out of 10 phones being replaced by them have issues. I paid for a brand new phone there is no way I was going to switch out for a replacement after just purchasing a brand new one. Despite the lag issue of the S4 it does what I need it to do, which is making a call. In the end, what it comes down to is I need a phone to be a phone.

And by the way some of these people are responding here about lag, I guess I should call you a liar and tell you the DNA had no issues of the sort because my DNA didn't have the same problem.smh
06-13-2013 10:46 AMLike 0 - Strange enough, I've seen many posts on these forums, and also on podcasts that I listen to where people complain about the S4 lag......I don't doubt what these people are experiencing, but I'm happy to say that I have not seen any lags on my S4 at all! I find it very responsive and snappy!
Sent from my SCH-I545 using AC Forums mobile app06-13-2013 10:46 AMLike 0 - I had the S4 for a couple of days and I did notice the lag. My wife and soon have the S3 and it does seem snappier. The S4 wasn't horrible but it did have a little stutter from time to time when swiping from screen to screen or scrolling. I now have the HTC One and it is as close to IOS in smoothness as any Android phone I have used.
Sent from my HTC One using AC Forums mobile app06-13-2013 11:01 AMLike 0 - That was a real issue with the DNA. I got lucky with mine and never had that issue at all. If it wasn't for the storage I would have kept it. But that's definitely a deal breaker when a phone doesn't work as a phone.
