Lost some contacts when setting up new phone

Hello all,
I was setting up my new S4 today and noticed that not all my contacts came through. I contacted Verizon CS and was told that I would have to go into a Verizon store with both, my old and new, phones to have this straightened out. Is this the only way to do this? Thanks.

Contacts can be stored on the phone, on Google, or on another external account (like Outlook). Contacts stored on Google or Outlook should be restored when you sync those accounts. Contacts stored on the phone won't be. When you create a contact, you can specify where you want it to be stored.
