Merging/Joining Contacts

Hi. Recently upgraded from Samsung Galaxy Fascinate (1st Gen.) to the S4. In my contacts list, I have multiple entries for the same person (and there are hundreds of these). I actually have four entries for my own name. One of them is typically a facebook entry, and then the others are device. I've tried joining the contacts, but I still see multiple entries for each person.

Is there a way (app or otherwise) to merge the information for multiple entries into a single one so that I only see a person's name once in the Contact list?

The easiest thing I found was just to display only those from my Gmail account (or what ever one account you want). Open your Contacts app > Menu > Contacts to display > then select only that one account.
