I had the same issue on my 4.3 galaxy s3. It must be something with the update. I did the wifi settings, advanced "fix" mentioned above and it seems to resolve the issue

I"m having trouble regarding my wifi since i've updated my phone to the android 4.3. I've got a message that the wifi connection is unstable. It takes quite some times to connect to the wifi and it is very frustrating. The more frustrating thing of in this matter is that the phone loses connection by itself even if i'm next to the router. I never had this issue before. My wifi connection was perfectly alright before and it connected instantly as i put on the wifi icon green.
I guess that Samsung should fix this problem as soon as possible.

Yep, same issue we've all had since 4.3 came out. Can't believe it's this hard to fix.

Constant "connection I'd unstable" and not connecting to my router now. No issues before the update. Anyone else?

I HAVE FINALLY FOUND A FIX. At least a temporary one until an update arrives. On my note 3 it comes with pre made folders and one of the folders is my company's apps(us cellular) although us cellular isn't available everywhere this should still apply to you. Basically what I did was turn off each app that came with my phone from us cellular. No longer having ussues. The main app I believe causing the problems was a navigator app that came pre installed. Hope this helps.

For anyone having problems with your 3G/4G/Data overriding or preventing your WiFi from connecting, give this a shot:

    http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-g...ml#post3332252

    1. Settings/More/ApplicationManager
    2. Select the AT+T Navigator App
    3. Select TURN OFF
    4. Restart your phone
    5. See if that corrects the problem.

Although this is a Verizon thread, could a pattern be forming...
    • Giggyjdog's US Cellular Navigator App;
    • My AT+T Navigator App;
    • Other Verizon users mentioned disabling a Verizon CallerID Service.

Not a bad note, I've never seen this issue when it wouldn't have naturally occured (ie too far from the access point) since rooting and disabling VzCID was one of the things I did on root.

Yes I understand this is a Verizon thread but I think this may work for a number of companies. So far so good. No wifi drops. Speed increase. Not exactly how it should be, but this is something worth trying until an update is released. How did this fix work for you?

Hey Giggyjdog... we are on the same page!!! I said that because I didn't want others to dismiss the possible solution because of our AT+T and US Cellular carriers.

For a complete overview, check out this post: http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-g...ml#post3332252

For me, I saw it happen before my eyes after a Factory Reset and I could actually toggle it by Disabling/Enabling AT&T Navigator

Oh were on the complete same page. I didn't mean it that way, I meant it in the same way you did. This obviously isn't a carrier specific issue as will research show. I've heard rumors of international(note 3) receiving am update to fix this issue. Any other news as to if this has been addressed? Driving me crazy to know I spent 300 dollars on a phone that can't even use wifi correctly!

I have the same issue on my HTC one after OTA 4.3 update. Factory reset hasn't fixed the issue. Only turning wifi off and back on fixes it.
I m facing same prob in my htc one after upgrading to 4.3
    Any solution plzzz??

Turning off Google Now worked for me, immediately connected after I restarted my S3. I didn't upgrade until the new release last week, then immediately had the problem connecting to my Westell high speed router from Century Link.

Just a reminder: this is not a thread about 4G remaining on over Wi-Fi. For Verizon galaxy S4's, there is already a fix for that.

This is about Galaxy S4's problem with connecting and remaining connected to certain WiFi routers. At this point, it is clearly a problem with the phone, and most likely not an app interfering. It is unacceptable for Samsung to essentially ignore this. If it's not fixed in the 4.4.2 update, I'm not sure I can trust another Samsung phone.

Verizon rep told me today that they're aware of this and everyone is complaining about it. Told me to turn off the automatic network switch to fix it. That really didn't do much help. Now rather than disconnecting it says it's unstable and won't load. Hopefully with them being aware of it a bug fix is coming soon.

S4 (VZW) - saw the messages about the internet being unstable - ignored them until I got a message that I was over data. I my data use went up 400% because when it could not connect to wifi it used my data plan.

Contacted VZW for solution - factory reset, still doing it, sent out new phone. The rep said update did <something> to "battery management" which cause <something> to get too hot which physically toasted <something> in the phone. He was also clear that the only reason he was sending me a new phone was because I happened to be under warranty. He said that if I was not still under warranty, then there would be no replacement. I asked him: VZW issued (forced) an update that physically broke my phone and it is somehow my responsibility to resolve the problem? Answer: Well, no, you are under warranty so we will give you a new phone. [Note: by "new" he meant "another" - because what I got is not new] Of course he also said the new phone had be "adapted" to resolve the issue. New phone still cannot connect at home, but can at work. I have upped my data plan until this gets resolved.

It's getting worse for me. Samsung still hasn't had a fix yet. How can such a large company just turn a blind eye? I've always been team android, but having no WiFi essentially cuts out 80% of my phones usefulness. I may not switch to apple, but I'll definitely be looking into other android manufacturers for my next phone

Edit: I finally caved and went to got a new wireless router. No problems so far, with wifi on my phone working normal again

Having the same issue: after upgrading to 4.3 on my S4 (not Verizon) whenever I enter in the range of a known Wi-Fi (for instance at home!!) the phone does not automatically connect.. this is kind of random. when I restart the phone the issue seems to be fixed -at least for some time-.

I've spent about a dozen hours on the web and have tried every single proposed solution I can find. Factory reset, reset router, set static IP for phone, auto-network switch turned off, etc. Nothing works. I have two separate routers at my house -- one is a Comcast wireless gateway (manufactured by Arris) and the other is a Linksys E3000 set up as a repeater for the Comcast router. I get essentially zero signal strength ("not in range") when more than a few feet away from either. When I'm fortunate enough to get a signal, the connection craps out and I get the "network disabled because connection is slow" (paraphrasing) message. Also getting the "connection not stable" message.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'm not a tech wizard but I have a considerable amount of knowledge re: computers, networks, etc., and I am at a complete loss at this point. Samsung should be ashamed.

I found out that my chromecast was the problem. It was shown in my Phone as a wifi access point. I disconnected the
chromecast and deleted it from my list of wifi points.
Now everything works perfectly. Maybe you should delete a number of connections you don't use anymore ?

I am running 4.4.2 and my "new" S4 won't auto connect to my wifi automatically. It connected once and now each time and multiple times a day I have to physically reconnect to wifi. Very annoying, none of my other toys have this issue. I am still within the return period, should I take it back for a different phone. I read the S5 is having a similar issue.

I just corrected this problem in Android 4.3. on S3

From W-iFi Networks, Click Settings ( lower left of screen) click Advanced and then turn off (unclick) Auto Network Switch.
