My wife and I are both going to get new phones. I am going to get one of the Droid phones. My wife uses her phone mainly for email. She rarely gets online What would be my cheapest route (phone and plan)? Thanks

Well the minimum family plan is 59.99 which includes 700 shared minutes. If she is getting a Droid, add 29.99 for a data package. Verizon does have a $15 data plan that includes 150mb, but with an Android phone....that won't be enough. I have only browsed a few pages and emailed quite a bit and am past that amount and I'm 2 days into my cycle.

If you want a smartphone, add another 29.99. So you're looking at 120 +10 in taxes = about 130. That doesn't include any texts.

Sorry, forgot to add, if she wants an emailing phone go with a BlackBerry Bold. They were on BOGO. I don't know if they still are. I guess that doesn't help if you want a Droid. You may be able to get by on the lower 150mb data plan.

If you can wait until the new data goes into effect, a Bold with 150MB of data ($15 a month) should be more than enough for her needs.
