    I bought a S5 in Best Buy in Las Vegas last week , and I started to use it with my chilean chip in the roaming mode(chilean carrier Entel)
    Everything worked fine initially, but when I arrived to santiago , I noticed that I could talk and wifi was ok, but 3G was not working.

    A mesage in the notification panel is always present: " no se pudo activar el telefono".

    I did some searching and I was advised to buy a code in order to unlock it , but as I never put the verizon chip in the S5 , it was never activated by Verizon so it didn't work. Aditionally, i lose the verizon original chip.

    Verizon 4g phones come unlocked. Are you sure it has the proper bands?

    EDIT, looks like it does have the proper radios.

    Have you updated the APN for your carrier?

    YES, is the proper band because I am using it to talk and do sms in Santiago now. But it cannot work with 3G or GPRS or HSDPA. And it works fine with WIFI.

    No it has no APN defined, it has the Verizon APN
    OK; I will ask the local carries to try to create a local APN....sounds good

    I test it with the local APN parameters of Entel Chile , but i didn't work.

    the parameter in the APN option that ask for PN activate/deactivate was never enable to use it.

    Also, I have the message in the notification panel permanently that says:
    " No se pudo activar el telefono"
    " la tarjeta SIM es de origen desconocido"

    You probably have to update the APN for your carrier.

    So what do I do if this is the case?

    Have you set up the APN? I would do that first and see what happens.
    These are the bands on the phone.

    so, verizon 3G is 1900 Mhz compatible so it should work then....

    I set already the APN but it didn't work. I copy from the link you sent to me.

    I will ask for another APN from Entel Chile
