Verizon responds to AT&T by offering more data on $80 & $100 plans, $150 port-in credit | Android Central

Are you going to be taking advantage of this plan / promo?

I would if they offered More data for free on the family share plan. But it is only on the more everything plan so not much use to me

I commented on the article, but I'll put it here too, since there seems to be better responses in the forums..
2 Things... 1) Is there any changes for the lower (2-8GB) plans, or is the 10GB now the same price as 6Gb?
    2) Has anyone figured out if the BYOD/EDGE discount is still $25 off, or is it now $15 off?

My wife and my phones phones are both about to go. Don't have the money for 2 phones outright, so thinking about dumping my UDP and old double data plan. Trying to figure out how to keep it close to the same price that I'm paying now.

    1. It does not look like it.

    2. According to the Verizon Edge FAQ, the discount is based on the data amount, not the price. So 10gb and above should be $25 discount. Under 10gb should be $15. This is Verizon so they will probably change it to $100 data plan for the $25 discount.

Do you have upgrades available? If you do and more everything is more expensive just use the upgrade tricks. Order your wife a phone. She should keep her plan. Then transfer your upgrade to get line and get your phone. When you upgrade your unlimited line just do it online and get the phone delivered.

I checked and you still get the -$25 off the 10gb,$80 plan. My wife got a Galaxy S5 on Edge and last week I got the Note 4 on Edge. When getting my Note 4 I had changed my data plan from 4 gigs to 10 gigs to take advantage of the - $25 per line. I tried changing my plan online and it did show the new price for 10 gbs at $80 but it wouldn't take the -$25 off per line. I backed out and began a chat with a Verizon rep. The Verizon rep was able to change everything for me so now I have 2 phones on the Edge plan. Paying $15 per line and $80 for 10gb of data (plus the monthly cost towards the actual retail price of the phones). I hope this helps clarify for those who were questioning the recent price drop and how it works out with those on the Edge plan.

That is good to know. I was going off this on Verizon's site.

based on verizon website i hope people don't get suckered into switching off unlimited because it is same price for 10gb as before since they took the device fee from 25 to 15 now.
    before
    10gb 100
    device fee 2+15
    total 130

    now
    10gb 80
    device fee 2+25
    total 130

for those that were already on it and saved the 20 on the plan and get the 25 device fee that is a good deal.

gotta love how they try to trick people(new customers mainly) into thinking they are saving money.

$15 for the phone to be on
    $10 for a tablet
    $29 for the phone...

Actually, for awhile the $80/10gb tier didn't get the $25 discount. Verizon recently changed it so that the $80/10gb tier does get it now

My current plan is 10gb ($80+$15+$15+$15+$40+$40)

Three phones off contract on a month to month plan with discount (not on EDGE) and two still on contract. Hopefully in a year the discount will still be available and I can just pay $15x5 for 5 lines.

I just moved my parents to the $80 10GB plan. My dad was on a 2GB plan and my mom was using a flip phone where they shared 1400mins for a total of $130 before taxes.

Moving them to the $80 plan, new iphone 6+ for my dad for christmas with a line access fee of $40 and moving my dad's iphone 5 to my mom's number for $15 line access fee. $135 with unlimited minutes, texts and 8GB more of data works out great for $5 more.

Just keep in mind that previously you had two subsidized lines. Now you have one subsidized, one unsubsidized.

$25 discount off the $40 line access fee since I used the iPhone 5 on my dad's line and moved it to my mom's.

I don't know how but I looked at ditching my UDP when Verizon had the 40gb plan for $150 and I was told by the rep that they had to manually enter it for the phone not on contract.

Surprisingly I checked my parent's account a few minutes ago and the discount wasn't on there. I called *611 and the rep added the $25 discount with no questions. He did say if I dropped below the 10gb plan the discount is only $15 off and good as long as she is off contract.

So my line has been due for an upgrade since July. Is what you are saying is could have been getting a discount all these months? I'm still on unlimited data until I upgrade.

Also, I heard the $80 10GB plan was going up to $100 on the 1st. Any truth to that? If so, I'll want to go to that plan now.

    Thanks

You can get a discount for off contract lines if you are on the more everything plan. Some legacy plans like UDP do not qualify for the discount
