Ok to root before activation?

My GF picked up an OS Monday. She's coming from Sprint and I expect that she'll get her phone in the next 2 days.

She has about 19 days on her Sprint account left. I wanted to nerd out on her new phone and get it set up for her...root and maybe DL some stuff.

I'm pretty sure I can root before activation but I didn't on my Optimus V for Virgin. Since I'm not going to install a ROM, I should be cool, right?

Ended up activating before root. Root and recovery setup was fastest I've experienced with 4 android phones

To answer your question, yes you can. The custom ROM on this website comes complete with the Activate app, so there's nothing to worry about. Although you probably don't care now... The only ROMs you should be worried about are ones based on CyanogenMod or MIUI... neither of which come with the Activate app installed.

And yes, this applies to most phones not just the Slider.
