Compatible kernels for Optimus Slider

Hello yall, was wondering what kernels are compatible for the Slider? I have the Gelato 11_28 with the GingerKernel 7.01. But was wondering if the newer version of GingerKernel or iScream was able to work??

What is a kernel? I know about flashing roms, custom recovery etc.. BUT WTF is a kernel? It's confusing. Also, what is your current custom rom right now?

Ginger kernel is probably the most optimized kernel for the slider. As far as other kernels id stick with gingerkernel if I were u. To the other poster a kernel tells the hw how to act with the sw. Another user compared it to the engine in a car. And that is a fair description.
