looking for roms , optimus slider

what are some good roms for the oprimus slider? what do they do more. how do they look like? i would like to have a rom on my slider but i don't know which one works on it , and great.
what are kernels ? what do they do ?

and how do i install them both roms or kernels

edit:i would prefer a rom like ice cream sandwich or jelly bean.

There are no available ROMs built for the Optimus Slider in ICS or JB.

However, there are plenty of ROMs available in GingerBread. All are pretty stock in functions, but most have performance enhancements such as zipalign, or V6 Turbo, and are reskinned by the Dev.

All of these ROMs have strengths and weaknesses whether it be design or whatever the developer chose to enhance performance. It's up to you to decide what ROM works and looks best for you.

There are no current Cyanogenmod Based ROMS available.

ROMS, Read Only Memory, is simply the operating system the phone runs, much like Windows 7, 8, Ubuntu, Mac OS, Debian, Unix, etc. etc. With Android, Google provides a framework code and developers are given generally free range on how to customize and streamline the OS. Which gives us custom ROMS.

Essentially kernels are what boot the Android OS, it starts it's main function and tells the hardware on the phone what to do to get the phone to run. Modifications can be done to the code in order to more efficiently run instructions, which is what custom kernels are.

There are no overclocking features typically included in Slider kernels since the processor comes off the factory line pre-overclocked.


ROMS and Kernels are most typically installed via a custom recovery once you have rooted your phone. Since it seems you are new to the world of Android ROMs, look here:

Mobster just got stuck at boot 2x after a ROM flash, so I am using Areaslider 1.0, and seems to work.
