Gear VR for the S6 swapout with Note 4

So I would like to have the USB provision that the Innovator Edition has for my Note 4. I was thinking if anyone knows if the mounting plate the two use to attach the phone to the headset could be swapped out. I really need to be able to hook some USB devices to the unit but still want to use my Note 4.
