Why does my mobile automatically add other WhatsApp contacts as group when I am on a single call?

[Android Central Question]

I have a Huawei P20 Light and it is only on this phone that I have an issue with WhatsApp. If I am already on a WhatsApp voice call with a whatsapp contact, the call automatically ends up adding other WhatsApp members in a group conversation when I am still on a 1-2-1 call.

This has led to some really embarassing situations as during the call itself, there is no indication that other WhatsApp contacts are being added to the current call and a private conversation is now a group whatsapp conversation. This only happens during a whatsapp voice call. I have another WHatsapp account on a different phone and of course, none of the others seem to have this issue. Any help please?
