Can I do wireless charging if I have a plain plastic case on my phone

I just bought the Samsung EP-PG920IBUGUS Wireless Charging Pad. When I plug it in, I see a small blue, green,orange light go on for a second and then it turns black. When I put my s5 on it, nothing lights up and the phone does not charge. Is the case on my phone blocking the wireless connection, am I doing something wrong or is it the charging pad?

My Nexus charges fine in the case. Some pads are very sensitive to the position of the phone. Try it without the case and place it back in the same place.
