I think it will flop. It certainly didn't live up to the hype.

Amazon sure could have done better, IMO. Or they could have priced this device much, much lower. But, it will be interesting to see where the Fire phone goes!

If it does fail, I don't think that it will be because the phone isn't good, I think it will have more to do with the price point. It's a very expensive off contract price when there are better phones that are cheaper. When considering that the specs are around the area of the Nexus 5 that's half the price off contract, I can see it being a hard sell. But who knows. It could be a great compliment to all of those who have the Kindle Fire tablets.

What would bother me personally about purchasing and using this device is entering into yet another ecosystem. It would be different if this were an Android device, but knowing it has a Fire OS built with Android DNA, but doesn't offer the Google services baked in creates an issue for me.
