How do I switch between languages?

I want English to remain my default language.
But sometimes I have to type in Chinese. How do I switch between languages on the keyboard without going all the way into settings and changing it from there?

I already searched some websites. It seems like a notification bar is suppose to come up when the keyboard comes up. I don't know if this is a change they made in Jelly Bean. In my case, the notification only comes up when I hold down the spacebar and the default language has to be English. If I have a Japanese keyboard and I want to switch back to English, there is no notification and I have to go through settings all over again.

I think you need to find good keyboard that supports multiple langueges and let you switch languege without need of changeing keyboard (via notfication), i don't know stack keyboard or OEM keyboard you are using let you do that. Keyboard in Android is like sperete software so all functionalaty depends on which one you will use, so if oyu need more help tell what phone you got.
