4.4.2 update and battery life

Hey everyone,

First post here! So over the weekend my phone updated to 4.4.2 and after that update I have been experiencing rapid battery drain. Now I looked at what's using the most battery and it seems to be the screen. I already tried clearing my cache from safe boot to no avail. The only things that have changed is the update and I lost my original cable so I bought another one. Could the cable play a role here? What steps should I take next to troubleshoot this problem? My battery is at 46% where as it would probably be at 74% right about now before the update which is frustrating.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Sorry for the delay. I can't see any obvious culprit in those screens, except maybe mediocre cell signal. But that shouldn't cause the degree of drain that you're seeing. I don't think the cable has anything to do with it, since it looks like you're having no problem charging up to 100%.

Can you try a new or different battery?

Edit: Thought of something else--try changing Yahoo Mail's refresh interval to manual. That might help a little, but it still wouldn't explain the whole problem.

Well the battery lasted much longer before the update so I think that's the culprit. Maybe I can rollback to the previous version?
