Why won't my One m8 connect and see Wifi

For a month now my HTC One M8 won't display my wifi in the settings and when it rarely does, it won't let me connect. It will display 'saved' (yes right password entered) then it disappears. All other devices can connect to it also. I've restarted, recovery mode, wiped cashe partion, left it off, recently reset network settings (OS 6.0) run several anti virus apps and nothing comes up. I can't use my phone for a hotspot as it doesn't even display in other phones WiFi list. Only way I can connect to Internet is to portable hotspot my iPhone and connect via Bluetooth. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

On your htc:
Settings>WiFi>Advanced
Wi-Fi Frequency Band: 2.4 GHz only.
Wi-Fi optimisation: off (not ticked)
So far this has worked for me.
