Google Clock not working in Direct Boot?

I have a 6p running Nougat, the U version. I use Google Clock for my alarm. The last clock update supposedly enabled the alarms to work in Direct Boot. However, multiple times my phone has rebooted overnight and been stuck on my Android PIN screen, and the alarm has not worked.

Do I need to change a setting somewhere, or has anyone else had this issue?


edit: NVM. I just discovered you have to switch the encryption on the phone. It's not very well advertised that one has to do this?
