Alternate punctuation suggestions?

Ever since updating to nougat I have to press and hold the full stop key or go into the symbols menu to access punctuation like a question mark or a comma, when the previous update offered the comma or question mark in the suggested words bar at the top of the keyboard. How do I get this feature back? I use the standard samsung keyboard.

My LG phone separates the keyboard from the spell checker. It could be the spell checker that puts the punctuation in the suggested words list.
Which spell checker are you using?

I'm just using everything as standard with what comes in the phone. I've had a little look in the keyboard settings but I haven't found anything, however I could have missed it.
