One of my favorite apps for the iPad/iPhone is Air Video. It allows my to stream my movie collection from my Mac computer at home to anywhere I have WiFi access. Never had any problems at all with it. Best app ever for movie buffs.

Is there a similar app for Android that will allow me to stream my movies outside of my local WiFi network?

Qloud Media - The UI is kinda barebones, but it does work very well at real-time transcoding your movies into lower bitrate streams to your phone. Its the one I use to watch my home movie collection. There is a free version available.

Plex - Has similar functionality and a fancier UI. I have not tried it personally.

Both require that you install a server app on your computer.
