AVG says Google Search (Enhanced) is intrusive adware

AVG Free on my Android 2.1 phone has started saying that Google Search (Enhanced) is intrusive adware. I found an indication on the Internet that there once was a virus disguising itself with that name. I found a EnhancedGoogleSearchProvider.apk file and copied it to my PC for examination.

I don't mind Google's nosiness, but I wouldn't want a virus from someone else.

How can I resolve whether this APK file is genuine Google software? Is AVG merely alerting me that Google Search has access to my information?

I would contact both AVG and Google.
