Galaxy S, can't find device serial number

SWM not working with Galaxy S. Tried the following;
- Installed driver with Kies
- Installed DotNetfx40
- Enabled USB debugging
- Connected device
- Verified SWM installed on C:\
- Started SWM, "run as admin"
- Troubleshooting > Click to test USB driver status returns "List of devices attached" > blank, no serial numbers.

Any help would be much appreciated!
