disappearing downloaded files

[AC Question]

I installed the Kit Kat 4.2.2 update and have regretted it ever since! After downloading a file, it disappears within 3 days. I'd like to be able to securely save it and know that it will still be there next week without having to download it over and over again.

Welcome to Android Central! What phone do you have? With some interfaces, the Download screen might hide files that were downloaded more than a few days ago, with an option to display them. Check the menu for the Downloads app. Otherwise, install a file manager app like ES File Explorer and use it to explore the Downloads folder.
