Headphones acting funny

I recently used my Razer headphones to listen to music on my galaxy s3 but they seem to be acting up. The audio is incredibly low and when I turn it up all the way it fills with static on loud parts. I can't seem to figure what's wrong other then when i push and twist the cable in the jack a certain way it fixes for a split second, some help would be appreciated.
