Overall volume on Moto X has been significantly reduced - not sure why

My overall volume has been reduced by roughly 40%; this includes the alarm, media, and notifications sounds. I believe this is also the case for when I plug in headphones/speakers, although it's hard to tell. Can anyone tell me what might have caused this and how to fix it?

I suppose you already checked the volume on the phone and in the sounds app?
Did you reboot the device yet to see if that helps?
