htc won't update

[AC Question]

i bought an htc one m7 on ebay 8 month ago. since then i have not been able to update it. the phone is from att, but i unlocked it and have a tmobile sim. it keeps telling me that the phone is up to date and the software version is 4.1.2. anyone please help me i want to buy the galaxy gear but I'm fearing it won't connect due to the outdating software.

Welcome to AC
Unfortunately, unless you are rooted (and I believe it requires a custom recovery as well), you will not be able to use the Gear with your M7.

So you don't have the Gear yet, correct? Have you looked at other devices that don't require root? The G Watch and the upcoming Moto 360 are , IMO, both better than the Galaxy Gear.

Yeah, 4.1.2 is what it released with. Most Ones are on KK now.
So when checking for OTAs it just says up to date?
