Is there a way to switch between my Google Voice number and carrier number in Hangouts?

I can't find a way to switch between sending messages through my Google Voice number and my carrier number. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing or is the functionality not there at present?

Receiving messages at one number or the other will force it to switch for all future messages but I can't find a way to force the switch on my end.

At the moment I can't rely solely on my Google Voice number as Verizon does not handle MMS messages in an acceptable manner.

At this point, it appears the only way to change it is to go into settings=>sms=>send sms but there's no way to change on the fly. A lot of people have been having this issue, so hopefully they'll fix it soon in an update.
