Why can I not hear a voice recording when headphones are connected?

Hi there

I have a Galaxy S4 mobile. Voice recordings play at an audible volume usually; however when I plug in my headphones the volume is but a whisper. Please assist?

Welcome to Android Central! You're not talking about voicemails, right? You mean audio recordings using a voice recorder?

Just to be sure, you're certain the headphone jack is plugged in all the way, right?

Hi, yes audio recordings with a voice recorder and headphone is plugged in properly. I tested it with another set of Samsung headphones. So puzzled.

And you're saying that these recordings sound normal over the main speaker, but just not on headphones, correct? I just want to make sure that the same recordings also don't sound soft over the main speaker, in which case I'd wonder about a blocked or clogged mic.

Yes, all recordings sound normal over main speaker yet are extremely faint when headphones are connected. The music player works perfectly with the headphones on.

Very strange. My fallback recommendation is to try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: Reset: Samsung Galaxy S 4 | T-Mobile Support
