Why did the ebook I paid for disappear from my tablet?

I purchased it through the Google Play App. They charged my credit card. It was on my tablet. I did not install any updates or delete it. I turned on the tablet. Everything was there but the book. It had been about 4 wks. Do they just mysteriously evaporate after a period of time? Thanks.

I'm assuming you're using Google Play Books to read those, right? If so, they do 'disappear' from your Recent list if you haven't touched them in a while, and unless you selected the option to keep on device, they reside solely on Google's servers (the app downloads certain portions as you're reading).

But if you go to MY LIBRARY, the book should be there. If not, check on a browser and see if it shows up there. If not, you might need to contact Google to get a refund or an explanation (if this is the case, also try to look for the same book again... does it show up and if it does, does it show as purchased or is the purchase button active?)
