Why wont my Galaxy S5 send messages over wifi or the network?

I've been trying to text from my Galaxy S5 but the messages fail every time. I've tried sending them over the network & wifi, but it doesn't work. Any ideas on why this might be happening? Thanks for taking the time to read my question!

Thanks for your reply! Yup, I can make calls & access the internet over my wifi. It's just the texts that are giving me trouble.

How long have you had the device? If you got it fairly recently, I would talk to Verizon. (I do have a few ideas, but the device should be well within it's warranty period. If there is going to be an error, let Verizon make the mistake).

I would start with talking to Verizon. See what they suggest to do.
