Battery Life

I bought a generic android tablet for my son almost a year ago. I have noticed recently that the battery does not last for more than 10 minutes at any given time even though it it fully charged, it shuts down at 80% of battery at times. My question is can it be replaced or it is cost effective just to replace the tablet. I am in Jamaica.

Re: Battery Life

It could be miscalibration, but it could also be a defective battery, internally shorting at the 20% discharge point, shutting off the tablet. The short burns out, like a fuse, and when you turn the tablet back on, you're at about 79% of battery (or maybe lower if the short was thicker and took longer to burn out).

Does it pay to replace the battery or the tablet? Assuming you'd have the work done, not do it yourself, it depends on the replacement cost of the tablet. If it's $300 replace the battery. If it's $50 replace the tablet.
