Ok how do I change a setting with rooting such as the volume warning without bricking?

Because if I disable the volume warning with root, unroot, and then update it may brick my phone... How do you change settings and update without bricking your phone?

If you make a change that can't be made unless the phone is rooted, the update will probably detect that the phone was rooted and stop trying to update. (You'll get an "update failed" notice.)
