Wifi Does not work for HTC Explorer phone even after factory reset.

Wifi Does not work for HTC Explorer phone even after factory reset.

HTC Explorer 310e with Andriod OS 2.3.5,
HTC Sense Ver 3.5
Software Number: 1.43.720.2

Whenever I turn ON the Wifi option, the phone just searches for available network, Obtaining IP address, fails, Disconnects and then starts the scanning again.
Connection was working fine until a week ago.
It does connect at some very random times.

Steps already done:
1. Restart of phone.
2. Switch off the phon, Battery removed and put back.
3. Factory reset complete. Still no luck.

I have tried other networks and hotspots. The first time a successfull connection is possible, but not for the next second or third attempt.

The Wifi connection is from BSNL-India and other phones & laptop in my home connect successfully. Only my HTC fails.
I have the modem from FUJIAN STAR-NET - Model -AR800V v3.0

Is this an issue with the BSNL modem ?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Wifi Does not work for HTC Explorer phone even after factory reset.

Since you have the same problem with public wifi hotspots, which don't use encryption, that's not the problem. I'd suspect either some app you installed, some setting you changed in the wifi section, a firmware glitch or a hardware malfunction. As far as determining which one it is, the only way is to try various things with the phone, and to know which things takes experience, so you'll have to find someone locally who has experience with wifi. (About the only difference between a cellphone and any other computer, as far as wifi goes, is that some recent cellphones have a problem with TKIP encryption - which doesn't matter with a public wifi hotspot - so if someone knows wifi, they'll know what to look for and, based on what they see, what to try next. Shark for Root is available if whoever you find wants to use Wireshark to diagnose the problem [which would make it trivial, since that would show exactly what;s failing and why].)
