How do I get my phone to stop showing unfortunately (insert app)has stopped?

Alright. Whenever I go to sleep and wake up. I get on my phone to check the time and if I have any messages or just to check facebook. Recently when i get up and unlock my phone after sleeping. Everything stops and I constantly get Unfortunately so so app has stopped. This also cause my phone to stop all functions and I literally cannot access anything on my phone(constant spam stopped message). To fix it I have been turning it on and turning it off and if needed removing the battery, but every time I go to sleep and wake up it does it again. I have checked other post, but have seen none that apply to my situation.
