How do I retrieve data from a damaged phone?

retrieving data from a damaged phone

My samsung S4 had a crack on the screen and I believe rain water got into the screen so the screen is completly black and unusable.

The phone can power on and able to connect to the PC and Kies but unable to do anything as the phone is locked via (pin code which I know) and in the wrong mode (needs to be in media transfer). There is no other hardware or software damage other than the screen.

I've tried drying the phone and that is no longer an option.

I want to retrieve the data of the phone

Is it possible to brute force the, remotely enter the pin or change its mode to access the data. Any other suggestions are welcome.
